A different movie...
A malayalam movie with malayalam subtitles throughout as most of the dialogues were in English which was definitely a wise choice as this bought some life and originality as the story is based in Arizona...
A crime story with brilliant formation of characters. The key characters are not easy to understand and as a viewer it was an interesting exercise to sum up the bits and pieces of each character and understand them better by the way they behaves to different situations that make up the story...
A crime story yes. A thriller no.
But the interesting part was that while there was no abrupt rising in our heartbeat nor any breathtaking twists or turns, the movie was not predictable in any way and I felt that made the movie different...
Cinematography was brilliant and songs were timely and blended smoothly with the movie...
Prithviraj did an amazing job in giving life to Varun Blake and Nivin Pauly played along with a mystic stint that was required to portray the extremely complex Krish Hebbar and also to maintain the 'monotonous unpredictability which cannot be termed thrilling' of the story...
And again the interesting character of William and the subject of IT outsourcing...a subject very rarely talked about, yet so relevant and which gave the story another dimension and yet another scope to examine the mental trauma and wild emotions a person goes through when everything is lost suddenly on one fine morning...
Overall a decent watch and a different movie experience... Even though many reviews criticise the movie to be a failure as a crime thriller, we are not sure whether this was an intended stroke by the director to present it this way as monotonous, yet unpredictable, yet not so thrilling movie experience... :)
